Poster Content Tips

In order to make your poster as unique as possible, we recommend that you keep in mind some of the following ideas when writing the bio for the person you've chosen to honor.

  1. Focus on more than the fact that they are a mother, father, sister, brother or friend. Of course, you can include it, but try to not make it the only thing in the narrative. Be aware of what they do, not just who they are to you.
  2. Try to think of a special event in the person’s life. Have they participated in a breast cancer walk? Or how about a momentous anniversary (wedding or otherwise)? Maybe they went on a Hawaiian cruise or something else that is a once in a lifetime event?
  3. What kind of hobbies does this person pursue? Are they a gardener, or maybe a great cook? What about their interests in movies or music? Do they collect stamps or Hummel figurines?
  4. Try to think of something really funny: does your gift recipient sing in the shower? Or are they an avid air guitar player? What about the time the raccoon got in their tent when you were camping? All these make for a memorable bio for your honoree.
  5. Tell us something about their job or their education. People are always proud of what they do for a living or where they went to school.
  6. In the case of Survivor Posters, you can certainly mention something about your survivor’s treatment, though you would probably want to keep it on the light side.
